  • Windows 7 Performance Index

I'm getting annoyed with my PC. It is getting rather old now, and we've had to install Win7 x64. I ran the performance index (not that it is particularly useful!), and these are the results. I wondered how they compared to some of your own machines/beasts!

    Base Score 5.9
    Processor: 7.2
    Memory: 7.2
    Graphics: 5.9
    Gaming graphics: 5.9
    Primary Hard Disk: 5.9
    Kind Regards,
    Richard Birket

Hardly a beast by any means but it seems to work pretty well. FYI, the main hard disk a Vertex SSD.
    www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

I'm having no end of problems since moving over to W7. We ran the upgrade advisor first, and it flagged no issues. We've test-installed one machine and we can't even get good drivers for the graphicas cards (ATI FireGL V7350) apart from the ones that come with Win7. Max performance is very sluggish compared to XP64.

Have you tried installing the old XP video driver in W7 by changing the compatibility settings of the setup executable?

I have an old (6+ years) tablet where many of the drivers don't exist for either Vista or W7 and I ended up installing some of the XP drivers using compatibility mode, including the video; with a modified inf file due to the age of the graphics. Hrmm.. this was on a 32bit system however.

            Have you tried this driver?

I did find that link, but the site looked a bit dodgy.

<Mmm. Regardless of the driver a try to install - even the one you linked to - nothing seems to change. The driver version and date doesn't seem to update once installation is complete.>
