  • Max 2009 and Win 7 filename dialog box bug

It seems there is a known bug when using Max 2009 in Win 7 (vista too for that matter) in that when you go to save an image from the frame buffer if you click a filename in the file listing and then try to change the filename of the new one in the "filename" box it will always try to save the image as the the clicked filename. So the only way to save a new image name is to type the whole thing in the dialog box.

Anyone else experience this and have a fix?

Yep, I deal with this daily. My workaround is to select the file to get the filename and then click off the name so it is no longer highlighted and then you can alter the name just fine. It's only one extra click so I am kind of used to it now. Still sucks the first couple of times that you forget though.

Thanks but I think that is a slightly different bug (are you on 2009x64 in win7?). I'm not in win 7 right now as I transition over but I seem to remebet that clicking off the name so it's not hightlighted does not work in this case (I think it works for 2010). I'll try it again though when I boot into win 7.

I am using Max 2009 x64 with Win7 x64. I am also using Max 2011 x64, but I haven't put it fully into production yet, so I haven't really test that out. I do know that I was constantly have that problem with Max 2009 x64, and that is the workaround that I use daily and all works just fine.
