  • Can't remove FR plugin

    Somewhere along the line, I have picked up something from Final Render in a current scene. I'm assuming it's from a model I purchased, but who knows. All that matters is I need to get rid of it! It's making BB error out, so I have to render everything locally now.

    The error is something like "missing DLL". It makes reference to FRstage1.dlr and FR-Raytrace

    I've looked through objects and materials, but nothing has jumped out at me. Is there a script to strip unused plugins? Or some trick to narrow down what I should be looking for??

    Thanks

    Scott, if you assign a standard material to everything does the error still come up?

      an old thread from the splutterfish forums but some info on there might still be relevant and worth a try;

        @Chris - That probably would have done it, but that wouldn't have helped me find the object.

        @Pictor2 - Thanks - I'll try that next time and see if it works.

        I ended up exporting then deleting a pile of objects, then restarting MAX. As I merged them back in, one of them gave me the FR error. (Must have missed it the first time) I can't believe MAX doesn't have an easy way to find these sorts of things. It's happy to give us an error, but no hints how to fix it!

          Try some of these scripts .FR is a pig to get rid of some times....freaking stupid FR GUI sets Object parameters too...

          http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...nverter-v0-98b

          http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...rial-converter

          do a search on script spot for
          material convertor
          and you will finda bunch you can try..
          but just converting materials might not do for the reason I mentioned about...FR is herpes..very hard to get rid of...

            I had a similiar problem with Simbiont MAX. I had to go into my material library and delete all the textures that were associated with it. That did the trick.
