Compositing glows and flares

I've just been checking out a few walk-through videos on Youtube and found this -

I'm sure this is a pretty simple thing but does anyone know how you would go about adding glows and flares to the ceiling lights like that? Would you be able to do it with Knol Light Factory in After Effects? I don't do much animation so still getting to grips with After Effects tricks.

Frischlift has a couple that can be used for this kind of thing. Highly recommend the whole kit actually.

What is that program we talked about a couple weeks ago? it is the stand alone application for stills ... we mentioned VRay coming out with something, but VRay probably isn't the same. I searched, but i can't find it.
