  • MAX File format question

I've had some strange problems lately with the MAX file format and I can't pin it down to anything other than large file sizes.

I'm using Win2K Pro and MAX 3.1 on a Dell Precision 530 and all are legal and registered to my employer.

At what appears to be random times, a file I'm working on cannot be accessed with the standard Windows Explorer. When selected it just crashes Windows Explorer.

I can however access the file with Power Desk ( a third party windows explorer utility) or from the small explorer window that pops up when you say file.open from within MAX.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP we can work on the file but it is almost impossible to manage it.

    Thanks in advance,

it will fix the issue of explorer crashing when selecting large max files. Aparently Win2000 doesn't like the extra garbage that max puts into the files. But you will have to open the files and resave them to have the SaveFileProperties=0 affect it.

      That did it

Thanks to both for the help. Just as a note, the syntax IS important to anyone else who reads this post.

Someone mentioned this to me in the past and somehow I ended up typing it in as all caps and this dosn't work.

      Much Thanks
