  • Anyone got these cars................

    Hi

Need to get some good quality cars for a CGI. Has anyone tried these:

    http://www.3d02.com/European_cars_2_3C00921.aspx

are they ready to go, or will they take some work. Otherwise any other suggestions (need to be european cars).

    Thanks

The 3d02 stuff have really clean meshes and normally use vray materials.

Just a word of warning because you can get in trouble when using brand model cars.
We had finished a 4 minute CGI movie for a tyre company using a Audi A6 car model from 3d02.
The legal guys from the tyre company had to show the animation to Audi before releasing it and they refused to give their OK.
Because the 3d Audi didn't look like the real car or something like that.
The Audi was in almost every take and it was a complete desaster,
we had to redo everything with a concept-car model.

I would buy the Dosch concept car collection,
they have pre rigged models ready for animation.
          Reflect, repent and reboot.
          Order shall return.

U know maybe how does it work with a non-commercial work ?

Everytime you load up something to the internet it counts as a publishing from a legal point of view.
It doesn't matter if you earn money with that or not.

If you have the choice i would always try to avoid to show anything in your renderings that has some kind of copyright on it.
Some go as far as to make fake labels for every product in the shot.

A few years ago i got sued for some renderings in my personal online portfolio because of some crazy copyright stuff.
It's sad if you can't even show your work on your own homepage.

Thats the reason why i don't update my page anymore,
i just email the newer work to my clients if they ask for it.

I bought some Squir cars a few years ago and they were excellent models, but all mental ray materials in large multi-sub mats...stil, great geometry...
