Ahhgghh! Anyone good at modelling stairs?

Here is an example. I can't get the loft to work in my version of Autocad - can you?

I assume you used the "Second point" option for the pline arc for both portions of the pline, right? If I build the pline that way, loft fails too. If I build it using "Second Point" only for the first portion of the pline it works just fine. I think theres a slight kink in the pline at this point and ACAD doesn't seem to like that. BTW-this is on 2009.

Hi

No problem here, I've been modelling with polyline with multiple segments (including multiple curves) for years. It doesn't like it however if you by mistake click twice in the same place have 2 segments in the same place, it should be one long thing. With newer versions of AutoCAD however, they messed up the "extrude" command, and for complex things you now have to use sweep. Before sweep was introduced into AutoCAD, extrude worked fine for 99% of things.

The "new" one is called AutoCAD Architecture - and I've always preferred it over Revit, but here not many big companies have either, only AutoCAD. Lot of the smaller places however, has Revit. For some tings AutoCAD just works so much better. With this loft thing for example, you can have multiple profiles of different shape, and it will merge/morph between them. When I 1st figured that out, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread
