I have a project that I did a while back that has several good materials in it. I am in my NEW file now and I go to OPEN, a material library, but instead I choose max as the extension and then open the mas file. It shows me about 75 percent of the materials in the file, yet when I go and actually OPEN the file, the material is there... I have already made the new material, but just wondering why this would happen.
