  • pc vibrations through the floor - how to reduce ?

I have my office above my bedroom in a converted loft space. The pc's all have acoustic rubber feet but the vibrations from the spinning HD's really vibrate (resonate) through the floor and it is a pain at night when trying to get to sleep. Does anyone have any solutions for reducing/eliminating the vibrations through the feet of the pc ??

you could suspend the pc's on bungee cords from the cieling ?

i do actually have the watercooling pump in my main workstation suspended like this inside an empty drive cage... its pretty silent. before i had sitting on a silicone block in the "floor" of the pc but it resonated in a similar fashion to what you have there. not sure about the practicality of suspending a pc like this though.. hehe.

another option is to go the other way... if you put your pc's on paving slabs that would also kill any vibrations quite effectively.

would mean you have to carry paving slabs to the attic though.

I was thinking that I could get 8 magnets with opposing poles and somehow stick 4 to the feet, 4 to the top of the mdf base I have and then sit them on top of each other..need to somehow keep them vertical above each other...would stop all vibes though !

This stuff works fairly well. This was something I used in in a media PC build, but should work well in the drive bay of a regular case too.

Or head over to SPCR for tons of other ideas.
