Just kidding of course. I'm doing a presentation today about how much art goes into our renderings - as opposed to the common misunderstanding of a "render button" ... Thought you guys might get some use out of this graphic next time someone asks for a re-render 30 minutes before a project is due... lol...

I'd love to see the presentation if you put it online. It might help others educate their clients better, which is a win for us artists. +1

Oops. I edited my post a bit since it sounded like I was doing a public presentation... I'm actually just doing an internal lunch presentation here at the office - sorry for the miscommunication on my part.

However - your point is well taken. I agree it'd be great for some client oriented "art of visualization" presentations to be readily available. It could definitely help explain the process to those with "render button" mindsets.

I'll expect it on my desk by end of day today. Or you're fired. Thanks Chris.

It's really simple...all you have to do is move this thing around and you should be done in less than 5 minutes. ;P

On a serious note, I am looking for a way to educate a VERY business oriented person to the amount of work goes into what we do. Any suggestions?

Haha. I think maybe making a time-lapse video of the creation of a complex asset might help? Then you could point to that and say "4hrs in 5m" and say that's one high quality asset. Perhaps an entire project from start to finish if that's possible as well. There's probably better ways, but that's just what came to mind.

I had a call yesterday from someone interested in my services. The project is large, over 20 stills, and they want it in a couple days. I told them that I would not be able to make their deadline because I can spend 2-3 days on one still. The reply I got was, " let me clarify, I would like computer renderings". People do not get it, there is a major misconception.... the initial time isn't any faster, what you can do, is save time on change. If you are picking multiple views of the same location then it saves time, but this project wants 20 diffract spaces, both interior and exterior.

I think it is a general consensus, people general do not appreciate computer art. I did a pencil sketch of my daughter and people drolled, but I get no respect for my digital art, they think there is a big red render button.

I think the key for a marketing image is that you have to want to be there. If it's unbelievable, or too cold, or otherwise not right, it ain't it. If, on the other hand, you can envisage yourself in the image in the warm, idyllic settings, then you're "winning".
