  • free stp-converter?

    Hi guys,

    a client sent me a stp-file that I need to convert or import to MAX. Are there any good free tools/scripts/programs for this?

    Free... Well try deepexploration. They provide a free stuff. Maybe you'll find it useful...

    If you wish I can help ya convert ur stuff.
    I just can't seem to trust myself
    So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

      Rhino3d has a trial wich allows 30 saves/exports

          Done Some surface problems were fixed also.
          I just can't seem to trust myself

            question.. would deep exploration be able to convert a max file from 1 version to an older version of max?

              sadly no. Deep exploration only opens max and save as something else kinda programme

                I got the file Paul - it works great! Why is the max-file so much bigger? (240 mb compared to 5,5 mb for the stp). Its the same model, no materials etc... weird.

                Anyways - thank you so much! I will take a look at deepexploration too...

                  The step file is a nurbs file which is a parametric description of the surfaces. It is KIND OF similar to vector vs. pixel data. Hence a lot bigger.

                      We used Rhino to convert STP to SAT and then used the SAT import in Max 2011 and created BODY files in Max, those were nice to work with ....
                      Two heads are better than one ...
                      ....but some head is better than none.....
