  • did anyone managed to make backburner 2012 ipv6 work ?

I'm struggling how to make backburner 2012 work. It can only use ipv6 so I guess my problems comes from it.
wrt610N router and Linksys WUSB600N wifi card on my workstation, rendernode is on cable so no problem there.
So on renderfarm I can start manager, server and all seems ok. But on my workstation I can's connect to manager (can't even start it on my machine, it only runs on renderfarm) and server doesn't connect. On manager side It seems that it can see my wrokstation but can;t connect to it.

one of errors on server side: ERR Error sending on UDP: An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. (0x273f).

and the rest of the log:

Something is really messed up! I tried disable IPv4 on my machine but then I can't connect to router !
And from what I search on internet it shoudl work without the problem with ipv6.

    Hi Luxx,
I have had to go back to using backburner from 3dsmax 2011 and so far it is working nicely with 2012.
Its a big hassle that it doesnt work straight out of the box but hey its 3dsmax

Yeah I couldnt connect to the manager.
I was trying to connect a windows 7 machine to a xp64 machine and it obviously doesnt work mixing ipv6 and ipv4!

havent tested yet but there is a solution here..

          http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autod...ng-backburner/

solvved. In order to disable this “6to4 Tunnel” you need to go to device manager-->View-->Show hidden devices. Then expand the network adapters and disable “Microsoft 6to4 adapter”.

I have no idea why this tunnel has been created or why the BB manager uses it.

          Thanks guys for your help!

              Hi Lukx

i personally dont hav problems connecting servers to manager...that works ok with a few "obsolete" warnings

              BUT

what i get is a VRAY licence pick up issue on the server station through backburner
it hangs on the transforming vertices, and then the job restarts because it coudl not find licence

              ideas???

                      on area :

                      Solution: only “reinstall” .\x64\max\3dsMax2012.msi

still have to try this !

yes but this solution is only to install 3dsmax2012 without backburner... is it right??

Edit: testing this, the installer reinstall max and also backburner.
Anyway it doesn't work. I reinstalled the backburner provided with max2011 and it works

We are having the same problem. I can start the Backburner server on all of my render nodes, and even my local computer, and they find the manager just fine. But when I try to send a rendering to the network it won't let me connect, it only brings up an error saying 'Manager not found' when I click the 'Connect' button. It's good to hear that some of you have already found a work-around by installing the old Backburner, what a hassle when you have pressing jobs that need to get done.
