  • Backburnder strips: where are they saved?

I had a scene rendering via Backburner in 4 strips (because the render was taking insanely long - first two strips took more than 30 hours each). The next strip was almost done (like 27 hours deep) and my license server died, so I lost the whole thing

(that is a major pain in the ass btw: can it be setup so the license server is only needed at the start of a render? Makes for a huge weak link in the process. This has happened to me several times before).

Anyway, I'd like to salvage the image if I can but I can't find the first two strips anywhere. I've googled as well - where do the strips get saved from Backburner? Not in the render output directory and don't appear to be in my temp folder either.

    Any clues?

They should be in the render output directory - they've never been anywhere else for me. Within backburner it tells you where it's being saved under job details.

Thats what I thought, but the directory was empty. I thought maybe there was some other default temp directory etc. Looks like I'm hooped.

      Thanks for the reply

Are you using VRay VFB? It doesn't support strip rendering:

I am using the VFB, I wasn't aware of the conflict since I don't really do strip renders it never came up. There were no warnings or errors that I saw and the first pieces appeared to render fine ( though it seems I should have looked for the actual files). Is that why they didn't save?

I think so. Sorry I can't be more specific, has been a long time since I had this issue ...

No worries - I really appreciate the help. I probably would not have found that issue without a *great* deal of wasted time
