I have been testing with HF1 for a few days now since its release and things are definitely much better. Unfortunately still not quite production ready (in our case).

Import of SAT files (which is basically daily routine since we need to import from AutoCAD and Solid Edge) is still somewhat dodgy where the display of Body Objects is still showing all edges even though the object is set to "both". This was not addressed in the hotfix and it makes working with Body Objects a pain.

Also still having some Nitrous display issues with mirrored geometry (also Body Objects), especially when using one default light. With two default lights things are WAY better than they were before HF1. But still not 100% okay.

Opening (or merging) specific Max 2011 files still instantly crashes Max 2012, which means we can't move them to Max 2012 even for testing purposes.

As these things are not system specific (our test lab has 12 machines of different calibers) we are obviously going to be waiting for SP1 and see what happens then I feel it is not wise at this point to do a quick migration to 2012 since a LOT was changed under the hood and they aren't minor changes either. I think it will take some time before Max stabilizes again.

It's too bad because Nitrous is most definitely a giant step forward in terms of viewport speed! It's a promising development you won't hear me complain about 2012 because I really like where this is going

p.s. the hotfix installed without any issues for us. But indeed you need to make sure you have the proper hotfix for your 3ds Max version, as linked to by scheinbarreal.

We've linked to the same place for the Max hotfix which is what I stated. I said nothing about Design

Haha! Yeah, in that case the link that DVP3D posted wouldn't work because that one was for 3ds Max (SDK version), not for 3ds Max Design I hope it is working for you now!

I agree, Autodesk are a bunch of money making muppets. They need to get a grip and give us the product we had 3 or 4 versions ago. I still prefer 2008 as the most stable!
