  • procedural gradient transition between grass and gravel? (plugin ?)

There was some nice plugin to achieve this effect : http://www.vg2max.spb.ru/GradientEdge.htm
But it doesn't work in max 2012 anymore. Is there some other plugin that can do similar thing?
I know itoo color edge, but it doesn't allow inserting textures and putting it in opacity slot is pain when I just want gradient dirt (I can't get vray dirt to work like I want to (too light, grain when using universal rendering settings) so I'm searching for other solutions).

It's the one from iCube but indeed it seems its development has come to a halt? Or at least, it looks like it if I browse their forum: http://forum.rendering.ru/viewforum.php?f=10

Maybe you can contact them about it?

I tried their gradient edge plug-in, but it never worked for me. I also tried the Itoo ColorEdge plug-in, with some success. I have been using vertex color, which I think I'll be sticking with.

I hope they recompile it for 2012... too useful to add to my list of dead plugins

"vertex color" but what if you don't have vertices

Funny you're commenting his looks, I just wanted to do the same thing earlier today

Bobby, I don't think you look scary, but you look like Till Lindemann, from the band Rammstein. Take this as a compliment

Why don't you use the new VrayDistanceTex ?
No plugin needed and it's working so well!

but with vraydistancetex I have a problem when like this:
Let's say we have simple plane for grass and connected to it plane for road... now I want the road to be dirty on connection with grass plane so I choose grass plane as vray distance object ...
No I want the grass to also be dirty on connection with road... so I choose road plane as vray distance object and I receive error "Can't Make a Circular Reference".So how I can work around it?

duplicate the geometry of the road plane and turn off renderable.. messy i know. it would be ace if there was some way for the distance tex to get around this circular reference limit.. there are many cases (rendertime booleans for instance) that benefit from being able to do circular referencing. vlado stated its a max limitation, but maybe theres a way round it? another way of selecting the reference objects maybe?
