  • looking for architectural unwrapping tutorials

I'm looking for some architectural unwrapping tutorials. There are tons of tuts showing techniques for oragnic modelling but it's hard to learn something regarding architecture geometry.
It's not that I'm totally green it's just I got the feeling that I might me missing some time saving techniques regarding unwrapping things like:

The question is, do you really need to "unwrap" it?
99%, heck I'll even say 100% of my archviz is UVW box and be done with it.
The only exception would be complicated "folded" structures, like metal sheet roofs with some kind of pattern applied.

yeah but the thing is... when you need realistic textures like leaking dirt on the corners or cracks I need to unwrap

Most people just the tool from organic tutorials or teach themselves. You just move verts and faces around on an overlay of your map. Theres tools to flatten bits and scale them and I dont know what else you'd need to know.
Does come in handy now and again but mostly it takes too long. far more useful on site works and gettings roads to follow meshes.

But then you wont use it for arhviz now would you? Try looking at some Gaming unwrapping rather than "architectural" unwrapping.
Architects and Interior Designers HATE it if there design looks dirty and worn. It must look brand spanking new

            The Very basic:

Even if not Architectural, the Joan of arc tutorial contains most of the things you'll need about modelling and texturing, building, human, monsters.. all the same...

            Hope it helps

Often For Arch Viz I use a combination of the built in UV tools and this script.
Typically I use the Flatten mapping option in the UVW Unwrap tools and then run this script. The Flatten mapping can be used on curved surfaces, since there tend to be flat curves in most buildings, you just have to set the angle options ot work with those surfaces and you often use the straighten UV Verts tools in the UVW Unwrap modifier to straighten things out.
Then Pixel pack after to get the bast packing.
There is another Plugins called FLATIRON that works well for this sort of thing, it's geared to doing Game levels and this means it works well with Arch Projects to.

              Script:
