Does anyone know if there is a plug for Max that is similar to this one for Lightwave?
    http://www.polas.net/plugins/leaves.html

I wish the scatter compound object in Max had a weight map option for controlling density. That would almost do the trick.

      would be nice

yes, I was thinking also to write him about this, then I saw that the tool was not done in LScript, but as C++.
This would mean the poor guy have to buy Max5 for EUR3000,- or the SPARC (because of debugging, max alone doesn't help him at all), spend money and few months time to learn it only to sell 25 Copies of it (since the rest will be spread over internet as cracks - there is always the aspect ratio 1:100).... I have simply bought for 995,- LW and solve the problem...

I wait for a day all 3d tools will have cross-platform plugins (something like Photoshop plugins you can read and use in many other programms)

      best regards

        Igor,

I was just starting to think that myself - buying LW. Crazy to buy a 2000$ program just to get my hands on an 85$ program. Still, lots of other uses for LW.

Love your work by the way. I've been admiring it for years.

          Hi PixelJockey!

thanks for the compliments oh, i see it now, I sould update my homepage, there is dust on it since 2 years )

Apropos LW, I have bought it for 995$ - I think you have seen DigitalFusion+LW offer, that costs logicaly more. Actualy I model in LW, so there was no longer thinking by me about buying it

I was rather thinking at the costs of the developer - he thinks probably the same way "Crazy to buy a 3000$ program just to sell 40 copies of my 85$ plugin!"

I think there was a MaxScript on the www.scriptspot that makes trees or so - maybe it could be replacement..

          best regards

            PixelJockey,
Have you seen a plugin call forestPro by Itoo software. It might do the trick.
You can randomly place objects on a line or an area enclosed by a spline and also assign a weight or distribution map for local control.

not sure if it's what you're after, but...

Thanks YoyoBoy! Matterwaves just might do the trick. Wish it was a little less expensive.

The Particle Flow extention for Max has image mapping abilities for particles as well. So if you already have PFlow as part of the Constant Update program, or can wait until Max 6.0 is released when it will be included, you'll have this ability.
