  • Professionalism on this forum....

Is it me or has professionalism on this forum taken a nose dive lately?

In the last few weeks I have been reading flames, posts with swearing and lots of disrespectful comments.

I am saddened to see this kind of unprofessional behavior on a forum that has been thankfully been very professional.

Vlado and Peter have better things to do than police this forum 24 hours a day, so perhaps it's time to remind folks that this forum has a good reputation for helpful members and a high level of professionalism and coutesy. This seems to apply wether folks are professionals or students. I feel so odd even bringing this up here, it's been professional normally.

    Cheers

Mike, are there any threads in particular that you feel have gone beyond the boundaries of professionalism, or are you just getting a general sense of this "nose dive?"

I see no purpose of this post. Go post this at some architecture chat site for pete's sake. This person has posted this topic exactly paralleled at cgarchitect.com for the same reason: to irratate everyone and anyone.

Ahh. I see. I participated in that thread because I thought that I could be of some help. Personally, I try to approach topics that interest me in an honest way.

I have to agree with you Mike. Personally I try to only participate if the topic is relavent, where I know I can be helpful.

A lot of the "Vray rocks, FR sucks" threads are SO bad that I feel like I walked into a Mac forum.

pointing out posts could only lead to more flaming.

just seeing if I am the only one noticing this

Natty, I understand your frustration. I curse like a fiend, but I don't know who my audience is when I post so I try to avoid it. easier for me when I type....not so easy when I talk....

Yea I can see where your coming from Mike, Ive noticed the flaming here and there and for the most part now I dont waste my time posting to those kind of threads. Kinda like an "ignore it and it will go away" idea.

I think the bigest problem is a few people moaning about nothing in general just to get a rise out of anyone who will answer and the ever so annoying warez users asking for help cause their cracked V-Ray don't work.

I kind of agree with Mike about the state of the forum lately. I have noticed it too. But since i havnt contibuted much lately, i guess i coudnt really complain. I think maybe one reason is that we are all happily working away on Vray and since there are not many new developments as the Chaos team get 1.1 ready, we tend to have more "trivial" posts in the forum rather than professional Vray discussions. Well, thats my opinion anyway. Also, like Dave said, there are a lot more Vray users here (some legit, some Warez users) now and i guess that automatically leads to more silly/flame posts.
That said, this is still the most professional, friendly forum i have ever joined. And Vray still rocks!

                        Regards,

                        Marc

Maybe Vlado or someone can create a FAQ that lets Warez users know where the crack will break down so we can stop answering the same,
"why is my animation flicking?" post over and over and over.....

Some times you have to draw attention to a problem to see it addressed...

i dont know. sometimes its kinda fun poking at the hackers when they try to talk about a problem thats a hack copy problem. we seemed to have had a blast with that guy from china who swore blind that what he was doing is totally legal in china and he had every right to ask questions in here.

I haven't notice any significant change but I haven't really been around much in the last 5-6 months.

Maybe we need a few more moderators who can kill the "VRay v's fR v's the world" and any other threads of similar uselessness, before the flame wars begin.
