  • Lens Distort Cam Mathc?

OK I have ANOTHER one of these to do. But this time the pic was taken through a closed window and I'm getting lens distrotion. I fixed the distortion to a degree in Photoshop, but still distortion persists so that I can only cam match it to about 85% - 90% accuracy.

Any tips to further correct my source image, so that I dont have to worry about the distortion of the lens (or distortion of the closed window)?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Programs like Nuke can fix lens distortion, but I'm not really sure how to approach the window glass.

I'm not sure if you did this but in CS5 you can use Camera Raw to correct lens distortion based on specific camera brand lens profiles if you know which camera and lens was used and if it is provided as a profile of course. There are several camera brands and many lenses represented in the correct lens distortion tab of Camera Raw. I use it all the time for my Canon L lenses and works a treat!

As for distortion caused by the window itself.. hmm... I think that's pretty much going to be manual labor because I would think it's impossible to estimate the type of distortion going on there. I'd say the distortion depends on the type of glass, thickness, accumulated dirt on the glass, how the light falls on the glass, etc. That's a tough one and I must admit I have never had to deal with such a thing.

Yes the lens distortion is nothing much, but the window glass is another one. And it was taken at about 45 degree angle to the window glass, only on the one side of the picture you notice it. But I managed to manually adjust it a bit to "acceptable" levels.

          Great!

And yeah, I guess with the window glass manual is the only way to go.
