I always try to learn whatever the application has set as default. Keyboard shortcuts usually aren't a problem, the only issues arise when orbitting/panning a 3d scene it usually takes my brain a good 5 minutes to make the mental adjustment to navigating in another application!

Love ZBrush too. Been using it since the beginning (before I was even using Max) and never looked back. Great decimation and map baking tools too. However I second the reservations about the painting tools. It is essentially vertex painting. For texture painting, especially on lowish-poly models, you would need something else. Can't talk about Mudbox. I won a copy at an Autodesk competition last year but it never arrived...

As mentioned before, i installed both Test versions and i must say that i start to love zbrush. The first day it was a kind of paralympic feeling to use it . GoZ Works nice with max2012 and somehow it was much easier for me to get my results back and forward into max like i wanted. Further then that i have to get Used to the huge variety of brushes and alphas but i think its just a matter of time to find out how to use the tools. I will continue using both Apps until the trial time runs out.

Right now i am on a small Weekend vacation in Hamburg and packed my iPad with Tons of Video tutorials and pdf. Next Week i will continue my to tryouts.

Maybe Bertrand can share some of his workflow he used in the Tribeca Loft Scene .) on those nice pillars.

        Best regards

in new 3DCreative mag Bertrand made tutorial how he used ZB in his scene.

The only thing that was mentioned here about mudbox that got me interested is that you are able to paint specular map ... hmmm... but I'm sure soon we're gonna have it also in ZB

. I've Read the last mag but there is no detailed description. Would be nice to read a little tut or a Small vid about the whole workflow. But that just a wish . There are lots of zbrush tutorials, but it lags on architectural ones espacially in conjuction with max.

Btw the article in 3DCreative is great and very inspiring.

After trying both pieces of Software i think i will go for zbrush. First of all it is more Fun to work with zbrush. The all over touch and feel makes me more happy then mudbox . I think thats the most important point in my decision, besides technical issues. Second is definetly the pricing. So far thanks for all the comments. Helped me alot.

Further then that i will have to practice a Lot to find out how to prepare basic mesh, unwrap and relax, how far i can go with subdivs and how to prepare displacement maps in zbrush for tiny details.

Any tips would Be very nice

                Best regards

check pixologic tutorials, they cover almost all of this and are free.
