Is there a way to extrude a spline and create more and more faces in a particular shape along a spline ? I think I remember some kind of drawing script a long time ago that did something like this... I've checked out scriptspot but couldn't find anything.

you mean a closed spline and extrude it along another spline? Like a sweep? But you want the shape to change as you go along the path? Or you want the shape to remain the same but get more faces?
If I understand you correctly then it's pretty easy with Autocad. Not sure how to in Max.
But in AutoCAD you can apply my answer from here:

If the shape is to remain the same, then just put more segments in your polyline profile as you go along the path. So you can have as many profiles as you like that look the same, but drawn with shorter and shorter polylines to increase the segments
That is if I understand your question correctlyLast edited by Morne; 26-06-2011, 11:14 PM.Kind Regards,

Not entirely sure what you mean, but RailClone from ItooSoft comes to my mind. Extend the length of the spline, and more objects being created along the length of that spline appear. I think with proper settings you can get a sweep effect instead of a duplicated objects effect (ie welded connections).
