Hi friend,
This is my first time that I see this problem in Max, but I 've tested in 3 different machines and I've the same behavior. My WS is 560 GTX Win7 64bit + Max 64bit obviously.
It's the the famous "2-3 second lag" in the viewport.
I think this second needs to 3ds max to put the data on the GPU memory. Ok, but... see my screenshot!!!
The file is a exterior model. I don't know who model this file. But all the meshes are very bad. double face, open edge etc... Ok, no problem. The polycount is not so big and no texture. Just color. But, this is not the real problem. Ok, it's MY problem ehhh, but not for that discussion

When I use the mouse+keyboard combination to orbit/move/zoom, I need to waiting 1-2 second every time. Very boring behavior. But If I use the "Orbit icon" (the button on the right - bottom of 3ds max user interface) the yellow circle appears on the viewport and... It's a MIRACLE! No lag !!!
Same behavior if I enter in some sub-object mode (vertex, edge, face etc...) for any mesh . for example, in my video I use a simple sphere.
Why this unusual action?? Any idea
I use 560 GTX and 9800GTX and Nvidia 8400 fanless (ehh...) but , same problem. I use a 3ds max viewport default setting for the DX.
