  • You thought your renders take too long?

    About the Transformers movie,
    check this out: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...-visual-208967

    288 cpu hours per frame!!
That's crazy. It's close to 1 year of rendering 1 sec of the movie with a single computer, if I'm calculating right.
No wonder the movie is shit, they had to use up all the budget for the renderfarm

    2. Massive computing power was needed so that the Driller could destroy the skyscraper: Rendering is the process of calculating the information in a CG file for final video output -- essentially by turning numbers into images. It took a staggering 288 hours per frame to render the Driller along with the photoreal CG building that includes all those reflections in its glass.

I smell marketing :P Seriously, some of the statements don't really make sense without context. Is it CPU hours ? Or maybe core hours? What kinda CPU ? Including all layers + revisions or only the last render ? :P

buildings were destroyed by the dozens in 2012. i dont see why this driller dude should be so much more complex in its scene than that. (although i havent seen T3 yet)
