Had been battling this problem on one of my systems. It was running fine on windows xp x64 for a few years and I have decided to upgrade since xp has an issue with connection to win7, it would drop the connection to win7 server every few days.
After installing windows 7 onto it, the system begun to freeze up. I get an error: kernel power in system log, and the time at which the system freezes up. Its an older computer maybe 3-4 years old but I wouldn't imagine it freezing this way.
Eventually I have been able to get it stable after updating windows to latest sp and so on, but now every time it accesses files from the network, like network rendering it freezes again.
However if I do rendering locally, i.e. start max and render, no problem.
Does any one have any ideas as to what it might be?
