  • Objects without Display Properties

    Hi

I have a problem with a set of objects that lack Display Properties.
If I select a object/right klick/Object Properties The entire Display Properties section in the Object Properties window is grayed out.
However, if I take a mesh object that is "normal" and attach and detach the faulty object it inherits the Display Properties and I can for example set "See-Through".
My problem is that I have over 400 objects that have this issue.
Any help with this would be great.

is it possible that they have the properties controlled by layer? instead of being controlled locally by object?

Strange. I thought I had already made a second post...

No it's not layers that is causing this. I've been using Max since R1.2 but I have never seen this before. That's great with 3D. Always something new to discover.

Here is visual reference for what rivoli is talking about:

You can simply click on that button to change the behavior for your current selection. If your selected objects contain both "by layer" and "by object" display property settings, then the button will show "mixed" and can still be clicked to change all objects to your desired setting.

Max defaults to this behavior on object creation, setting display properties to "by layer" rather than "by object", through this setting found in preferences:
