    dont know what they are using but i love their NPR shaders. The company is Psyop LA. does anyone know them?

    NPR?

    The animation must be loads of fun to make it look like painting hehe

    On second thought it looks like 12/15 fps hand painted cartoon cgi animation o.o

      Non photo realistic (toon shader for a better term). there was one by reyes-infographica that was reeeeally good but i dont htink they made a version since max2 or 3 and the company went under. if its hand painted then their artists have really good perspective shift skills

        Not really.
        U animate ur characters and objects as u wish - U render out shadow passes and main lights then u just paint down ur textures... It could be a mix of mate paiting on objects and then adding extra details in 3d/2d space after effect etc etc...

            I got no idea what Psyop is using, but there is Pencil which looks quite nice (http://www.psoft.co.jp/en/product/pencil/)
