  • Cebas Scalpel Demo or similar

I'm interested in trying out Scalpel, but Cebas don't seem to offer a demo (!). I have emailed them, but in the meantime, do you know of any alternative plugins that achieve a similar thing? I don't really want to fork out 150 EURO for something I haven't even seen running.
    Kind Regards,

Scalpel is great, but it is expensive, and there were support issues in the past. I stopped using it, since it was abandoned for a few max releases. They didn't offer a recompiled version. I wasn't aware that it works again. I wouldn't recommend it, even it it's a great modifier. There's nothing worse than having broken objects in the scene, because a plugin is dead.
I'm using an in-house script to do it now, it's not real time, but the result is similar and editable poly.

Thanks for the tip. TBH, I really don't like how Cebas come accross. It all looks very out-of-date to me.

Our 3D models are file linked in from Autocad. In addition, we use Autocad blocks which file link into Max as referenced objects. Do you happen to know if Scalpel can work independantly of referenced objects, or does it work like the Max Slice modifier where adding a Slice mod to one referenced object will apply it to them all?
