    wacom digitizer

    4 gig ram

7 hr ( claimed) battery life

    thin and light

a photoshop dream methinks.. and you could even do light rendering in it at a push lol.

acer eee slate is already on the market, but battery sucks and this is thinner, lighter, more powerful processor and gpu.

reviews are all very positive apart from the idiots who compare it to an ipad and complain it isnt as small / light/ cheap..

Tablet like that are better than Ipad for professional use( but very limited ) .....they don't really replace a laptop at least for our type of work, Ipad is great for meetings with clients to show your work face to face but that's it, on top of that you need a computer anyway to update it. My 4 years old daughter uses her Ipad for playing and watching movies, I use it when I want to see something online and I don't want to turn on my laptop.

I have the Zoom, Galaxy Tab, and the HTC Flyer. All three are collecting dust.

        wacom digitizer

4 gig ram - Windows 7 will steal about about 1.8 gb of that leaving you with only 2.2gb to actually use

7 hr ( claimed) battery life -mmmmm sounds dubious as most laptops/pads die after an hour of two of maxed out core processing

        thin and light

Sorry but I can't see any real value to one of these in a work sense....but in a play sense it looks COOL!!!

        All the best

did anyone here ever try using photoshop with a wacom cintiq?! its incredible.. direct hand eye coordination in photoshop changes the app completely. this costs the same, has a better screen and is also a highly portable computer.

Ever since trying the cintiq ive been trying to justify spending that much.. never quite managed it.. same goes for tablets.. never been able to justify the price for essentially a toy. combine the two though and youve got me sold.

agreed about the 7 hr battery life, but photoshop doesnt generally peg the cpu.. thats the killer app for me.. anything that pegs the cpu would certainly involve it being plugged in.

regarding the ram. i spent many many years using max to do huge projects with 2 gig total. (and a lot of years before that with much less) win 7 uses a lot of ram, but i can do a hell of a lot with the remaining 2.2 gig not everything, granted.. but then im not talking about a workstation.

you could even use it to remote desktop -into- a workstation and use it that way.. still having the pen/screen advantage. maybe there is even a way to use it directly as a second screen / input device.. just like the cintiq.

compared to all other tablets before / bar the eee slate, this is in a different league for usefulness. comparing to android or ipad is silly. no?

I am planning to replace my well used original galaxy tab with the galaxy note which has a wacom digitizer and "S-Pen" whenever it comes out in the US. I no longer carry a mobile phone so the transition makes a lot of sense to me.

Adobe is working on some premium tablet apps for iOS and Android, whether they will aid in breaking mobile OS tablets away from 'toy' status is difficult to say, but it appears that they are trying.

I considered the eee slate since I was in the market for a new laptop, but I just use a keyboard too much for my productivity tasks to justify that kind of device for that kind of use. I decided to go with the zenbook and am very happy with it so far.

I have been wanting a Cintiq but never got over the price.
Since its just a simple LCD with a digitizer on top it shouldnt be so expensive.
There are even DIY kits available so there isnt anything special involved,
they just make massive amounts of cash with each sale,
              which pisses me off.
This tablet would be very cool for photoshop and some older games,
but you wont be able to use it for max or editing.
I guess there is no way around the cintiq or the DIY version.
              Reflect, repent and reboot.
              Order shall return.

Windows 8 might be a game changer, and force the Cintiq to come down in price. I see all computers being touch within a couple years. You'd be hard pressed to buy a laptop that isn't touch within a year.

This looks really nice. Took me a little while to find the specs for the screen resolution but 1366x768 is not bad at all.

That's not enitrely fair. I've yet to see a DIY model that takes into account the stand for the Cintiq - which is no small part of the unit.
