Converting 2012 and 2011 Max files to FBX or similar

Anyone know of a piece of software that will allow the conversion of a Max 2011 or 2012 file to either a Max 2009 file or an FBX (or similar) file that could be imported into Max 2009?

I've tried Polytrans, but that doesn't appear to work. Any others you know about?

Can you download a trial copy of Max 2012? You should be able to export as FBX from that.

We've done that, but we really want a permanent solution other than buying a license of Max 2012. I was hoping for a third party piece of conversion software (that I don't mind paying for at all).
