not really, I just bought something cheap from ikea which seemed to be ok for me.

In my next place of work, I want one of those fancy adjustable sitting/standing desks. Chairs are overrated!

How you doing anyway? Still in Glasgowland?

      Hey there Pete,
Nope, moved down to londinium now and enjoying the reduced precipitation.

Don't think I could handle the standing desks... I can't stand standing around! Perhaps an inclined worksurface to replicate a draughtsmans desk would be a good compromise.

Just trying to see if there are any quality chairs out there at non Aeron chair prices!

      Sweden still treating you well?
      Many Thanks
      Patrick

steel case leap...damned expensive but the best chair i have ever sat continually on for hours. Don't get the puffy expensive version, get the less expensive less padded one. Much more comfortable. I'm sitting in one now. I was so sold on it after sitting in it for years that i fianlly made the leap and bought one for myself at home. Not the leather version but the cloth one. You can probably get a used one for $4-500.00
New, they run about $1,000. I've had a bad back since highschool so for me it is a must.

I had an aeron which was fine aside from three things - I didn't find the edge of the chair comfortable just behind my knees, All of the ergonomics are hampered if you don't have a desk and a monitor stand that can also be adjusted for ergonomics and lastly if you fidget in your chair after working for 16 hours a day, the mesh fabric will gradually sand away the bottom seams of your pants (Seriously had 4 pairs of Jeans ruined on one nasty 6 week project).

At the minute at home I've an imitation Eames task chair like this - http://g-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com/23...09_rect540.jpg - it's got really nice back support, and the surface of the seat moulds to your form - there's no platform that you sit on as such, it's more like there's two rails and the leather drapes in the middle - it's like a swing or a hammock type of idea. The arm rails aren't as pose-able as an aeron admittedly but I'm thinking of just removing them anyway. I've spent a tonne of hours in it and it's lovely! You can get an original for about a thousand quid or if you're poor like me get one of the imitation ones - the license for the chair expired so the imitation versions are made from the exact same plans. You might get better leathers or more solid metal construction but the actual sitting experience is the same. Highly recommended!

                Hi guys,
I've been through a bunch of chairs, Kinnarps, Aeron, Okamura and now onto the Embody.
The Embody is the best so far the "pixel" technology is pretty comfy, but not comfy enough.
At the moment I have 2 setups, one sitting and one standing and 2 separate computers.
It makes working between the 2 annoying, opening and closing files depending on which station I want to work at.
A desk that goes up and down would be pretty sweet.
The other chair I'm looking at is the kneeseat chair, a Balans Thatsit, that will be my next move.

Last place I worked had these chairs. I thought they were great too! Surprising given the limited adjustments available. But they do simply work.

The aeron is a big no-no for me... I've tried it a few times and found it pretty uncomfy.

Mikeh - The Leap is the one I was most interested in. It's interesting what you say about the padding. Is this what you mean by the less padded version : http://workified.com/wp-content/uplo...lcase-leap.jpg
                  or this : http://www.officesurplus.co/images/N...ap%20Chair.JPG

This one looks the bomb, but I'd need to get my keyboard, wacom and monitors all on adjustable arms to achieve the ideal reclining work position! http://bestergonomic-chairs.com/wp-c...eap_lounge.jpg
                  Many Thanks

I think every "body" has different tastes and comfort positions - a place I used to work had the Eames chairs (full license ones) and I hated it - soon as I could I found a standard office chair - my guiding principle now is try it first

I saw a tv program where an 'expert' said a chair that's too comfy may not be as good as one that's slightly less comfortable, as the less comfortable one will encourage you to move about more often - and moving about regularly is good for the muscles

I have had a giroflex 64 for the last 5 years (http://www.giroflex.com/content/prod...y=&language=en) It has a nice weight adjustable back, so it gives a little when you lean back to get some perspective on your work, or yawn!!
I was going to say built like it was made by a German but it is in fact Swiss, which is probably better! Anyway just something else to consider.
