  • generating masks - our daily work

setting up the required matID and render the elements is our daily business - they are so essential, but it's very time consuming.

is there no way to generate the required ID's for all used materials in the scene automatically? I think this schould not be a big deal, or am I wrong?
there are scripts to make random ID's but that's not what's needed, because you get a lot of ID's which are the same and you get a chaos.

anyone who can code and have an idea to make something like that?

    thanks and regards

There is no automatic ID-Assignment in psd-manager so far, but you can output them easily (works also with the VRay IDs beyond 16). You can also generate masks from objects and max layers without assigning any IDs at all.

In a vanilla 3ds max automatic assignment makes not too much sense because there are only 16. In V-Ray 2.0 that is a different story now. Some psd-manager users use custom scripts to assign material-IDs and then automatically enter this in the Material-IDs edit field of psd-manager to output them.
