  • Solidworks import

What is the best method for importing Solidworks files into Max? I have a client that says their files are so huge that only a few of their computers can handle them. Of course I only need the stuff on the outside that the camera sees, but they said there might be issues separating that stuff out. Is PolyTrans the best way to go? I found a site that recommends STL format, but they say you should export and import each object separately.

    Thanks!

npower all the way! power translators, or powernurbs, and (unless a newer version can open solidworks files directly, quite possible) then exported from solidworks as step, sat or iges.

imoprt and then convert to mesh with whatever level of detail you requirre, or left as (npower, not max!) nurbs.
