Does anyone know off a way to export a series of procedural maps textured to an object -accurately to a 3ds file that can be imported successfully by other programs? I never had to do this before...
USe the render material function of the material editor and export with the new texture map.
It will not be an exact copy of the procedural because it will now be a bitmap and be subject to the mapping distortions bitmaps are prone too.
Two heads are better than one ...
....but some head is better than none.....
Render material in Material Editor? I hunted high and low and cannot seem to find this in the Mat Editor.
Do you mean "Render to Texture" under the rendering dialog? I used this earlier but it seemed to generate a ton more problems (and files) than it was worth. My objects have alot of procedural maps buried in the many different levels. I'd hate to try to figure out which maps I would need to reassign since there's about 60 plus objects in my scene.
Ah- thanks alot guys. I take it that I have to dig down my trees in order to do this since it prevents me at the root level. That info helps alot. Thanks again.
