  • VRayMtl fog settings and scale

I have just purchased some good quality wine bottles to drop into a scene. They have been originally setup and rendered with system units in mm.

When i drop them into my scene which is in meters, all the colour is lost from the liquid/coloured glass and they render clear. I have had this issue before, and guess it is down to the material fog settings.

I haven't time to do numerous render tests at the moment, and wondered if there is any logic/math to how I should change the fog colour/fog multiplier/fog bias?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For recent builds, we implemented an option for the fog color that automatically takes the system units into account. For new materials this option is enabled by default, but for old materials, it is left disabled for compatibilty. The math is to multiply (or divide, one of them should work ) the fog multiplier with the scale between the original units when the material was created and the units in your scene (f.e. if the original scene was in mm and you scene is in meters, you'll have to multiply/divide by 100).

Thanks Vlado, I thought that was the case but wanted to check! Good to hear it has been taken into account for recent builds too.
