  • Hardware question - Slavaging

I have two old broken computers and I'm wondering if motherboards for modern chips will fit in them. One is a 7-year-old Boxx and the other is a 10-year-old... something else. Both are mid-size tower cases.

I don't know much about building new systems from scratch but, if I do, can I start with these old cases?

    Thanks!

If the motherboard is the same form factor as what the case can accommodate, lets say an "extended ATX" motherboard then the case needs to be able to house that. I have done it many times. I have brand new systems in very old cases right now. anybody walking into my office would think I had machines from the nineties still running. I have even modified old cases to fit new motherboards by cutting away parts and drilling new holes but that is something else. I could care less what the case looked like.
