Im trying to get these procedural textures to work with particle flow. The particles hit the sphere and where the particles hit I would like a ripple. I thought these plugins did this but I cannot seem to get this to work. Anyone got any ideas or alternatives to this method ?

i can think of a couple of ways to get it done but might be messy
where the drop hits the surface. stick it there for a short time before killing it. while that stuck particle is there spawn particles to move away from it along surface radially. they will shrink in size then die the further away they get. then im sure there is a particle paint plugin. if you could link those radial moving particles to it then that could work. not sure... just guessing here off the top of my head

On common approach is to use the shape mark particle op which makes a single poly on the surface of an object that your particle hits. If you make an animated material with ring shaped gradient ramps in the opacity slot that gradually get larger and fade from white to black, you can get the material to play it's animation as the shape mark is born and it'll give you an animation of concentric ripples that overlay on each other. You've go to render this out from a top view as a black and white clip but then you get an animated bump map you can feed back into your scene. That said if you've a high particle count, something like water cell or an animated smoke might be good enough - there'll be so much going on the viewer won't be able to look at a single drop to see if it's accurate.

Might be better with a drip system instead? There's a video tut here - http://vfxsolution.com/allanmckay/20...-fx-tutorials/
