  • photoshop strange gradient lines...

    Hi, I am so sorry for putting photoshop related query but i know there is no other place thn this forum where i can expect quick resolutions... So, while doing photoshoping i am getting strange gradient tool behaviour... it is looking very edgy... dont know how to fix it..

    is your image set to 16 or 32 bit in photoshop?

    if the colour depth is too low (8 or 16) you can get banding in your gradients..

      But even with 16bit you still get banding if the display is 8 bit. You can dither with the "add noise" filter to get rid of it.

        it is 16 bit .... i checked all possibilities..

          As Marc said, even with 16bit you will still get some banding at times. Just run a bit of noise in your mask on that adjustment layer. Try around 2, set to Gaussian. If you do it to the mask an important step is to re-clip the white and black values afterwards (the large white and black areas of the mask will be slightly affected) It may not show much, but I always use a curve and just bump the white and black points in a bit to reset the max white and black after noising a mask.
