  • Free timelapse skies

I released a bunch of high quality timelapse sky videos in 1080p resolution and different color grading flavors.
All footage is creative commons licensed and free for personal or commercial use.
I created this timelapses to use them as backgrounds for my archviz projects, I want to share them now with the 3d community.

The only catch is that you need a (free) vimeo account to download the original mp4 files.
(sorry, I cant provide the bandwidth to store huge files on my own server)

So is each one 2 minutes? Is that correct?

        Yes...either 5x speed or 10x speed.
So the original footage of the 10x timelapses was 20 minutes long.

The filesizes seems smaller by about 3 quarters today compared to yesterday?

I didn't change anything on Vimeo...
But if you switch to the new Vimeo theme, you get new options for downloading:

                        Mobile .MP4 file (480x270 / 4MB)
                        HD .MP4 file (1280x720 / 35MB)
                        SD .MP4 file (640x360 / 10MB)
                        Original .MP4 file (1920x1080 / 756MB)

The "original mp4 file" is the one I was uploading...it's big because I used maximum bitrate for encoding.
Skies are tricky with compression, there is still some visible banding and artifacts, especially on the sunset video.
The uncompressed 16bit After Effects footage looks great, but it's like 6GB per sky, exported as EXR sequence.

Yes I see that, but yesterday when I looked at
                          Sky DuskClear001 Time-lapse 10x dynamic

it was 650 odd mb, now vimeo tells me the file is only 171mb
                          Kind Regards,

The original file on my hd, DuskClear001_10x_dynamic.mp4, is also 171mb.
It's small because it's mostly black, after the sun goes down.
I think you are mixing it up with another sky.
