Adesk (and any software creator) has to recreate itself as a content provider not just a software maker otherwise it dies. Think about what has happened over the last 10 years with all the annual subscriptions. I cant even install my old software anymore when I try to I get an error saying the software has expired. I wouldnt be surprised if with this projected move to cloud computing there is a new model in place to charge for rendering farm work. Who would doubt that there will be a new feature limiting functionality if not rendered on Adesks Cloud Render Farm for a fee.
Although I totally agree with what you're saying about how it becomes almost tragic the way established companies are forced to 'make up' awkward new features and reasons to generate new revenue, I've never understood people that don't want to (hopefully) benefit from new versions. Compared to a carpenter I'm relying on a software tool that can be improved and updated, and I'm usually more happy about the small things than the new 'killer feature'. I guess the sad fact is that once a product is so mature and saturated as Max, the only people to make money on and fund continued development on is the existing users.

Max in cloud system is never going to work. The amount of custom codding and design that goes in to projects would make it impossible to relay on a server in different building than where the project is happening...

In my opinion Autodesk is trying to be innovatice and brign new stuff to table - in my opinion they should focus on polishing max than giving us new bugged tools... Like the render sub set.. it still dont work !

I'm not sure I understand. When I connect to my office, from home using Remote Desktop, that is my cloud. Why wouldn't virtual desktops work the same way? I have been playing with OnLive Desktop, and this is how I see it all working

Because if u write plugins scripts, etc etc. What u gonna do when system crash? And how u gonna install them on cloud if u only can send job? They would have to let u do it the way amazon works. I can use cloud to render some stuffs, but on a long shot max and render farm has to be local for certain projects.
