    Looks like it could be really useful in less extreme noise situations - I found the results in their samples too mushy looking to be really workable as finals - but I question how it would be helpful for complex refraction/caustic effects which are notoriously slow to refine in path tracing engines?

    My guess is that many scenes would still require a pretty significant render time, but it could be a useful optional feature since it's a post process anyway.

      Yes, I looked at this, but essentially it is just blurring the GI in a clever way that doesn't blur it across object boundaries - somewhat similar to what the irradiance map already does.
