  • Getting poly edges in max?

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to speed up our kerb making, which usually involves selecting all the edges in edit poly and doing create shape from selection (which takes a while and is quite fiddly)

    Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the edges of a selected polygon like the attached, so I can just select the bits I need and it will give me edges?

    Hold down shift & click on edge mode (not the list at the top)
    Holding down ctrl and doing that does a wider selection - these also work going from edges to poly & vertex etc. Once of the most useful tricks i've been told, makes modeling so much easier

      Ok, that has saved me about an hour a scheme doing kerbs

      I tried the edge loops, growing, shrinking, but never thought to click on the icon.

        what happened to selecting the top poly, then quad menu --> convert to edge?

          hmm. tried the shift thing. seems to do the same as convert to edge

            thanks for the tip.

            can't say I have really looked at the quad menu apart from changing spline vertexes into bezier or corners
