  • Brazil Render for 3ds Max is dead

    http://splutterfish.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24857

I've not experienced this renderer, so I don't know much of it.
    RIP Brazil for Max.

it's kind of sad though, I guess the more competing technologies are around, the better for all of them. from what I gather brazil's been in a kind of dead end for quite some time now, but still..

I know what you mean & I am sad to see it 'die'. Brazil was my first ever experience of actual functioning GI in 3ds Max - it rang rings around the cripplingly slow (and still terrible IMO) Mental Ray & it had genuinely practical features/functions. The only problem was that no matter what settings we seemed to throw at it, we couldn't get print resolution images out in anything approaching a realistic timeframe. Then V-ray came along & I completely forgot Brazil existed...

I'm sure we're not seeing the last from these guys...

Same here, the Brazil public alpha was the first time ever I used a real GI.

One of my first images, comparing Brazil to an early Final Render.
Anyway I was pretty quickly convinced by Vray.

                  RIP...
I guess the tough part about this market is you have to always stay on top of most newest technologies. Something that chaos does very well (gpu/cuda) etc.
