What does the average client or guy in the street call what we do?

I think I heard most of it over the years from clients and the average Joe in the street. Which one you think is the most common in your particular industry, or which one would you prefer people to use?

1. Hey I need some visuals done
2. I think we need to use some cg for that
3. CGI is the way to go
4. Can you do some animation for me
5. We need some 3D done
6. Can you put some computer moving images with that
7. How much is digital graphics
8. Can you do imaging for us
9. We need a studio that does digital arts

Client is saying, I need a "rendering".

most of them here says 'We need some 3D done' and many also says as Marc said I need a "rendering"..

I think "computer rendering" is what I hear most. About 15 years ago I asked my clients for a term to describe my services. At the time I was building myself a webpage and wanted good keywords. Back then, it was computer renderings, and I think it still holds true.

my friends who used to work in Hollywood on movie animations always call it CG
me I call it 3d (and I wouldn't dream of calling a flying logo or a flythrough an 'animation' - not when they're around anyway)
one guy I did web work for, said he already had his own renderer (I thought he meant he had something like vray - no, he meant somebody to do his renderings)

some clients think you just have to press a big button and.. voilà!

they all ask for "renderings" here. if anyone asks what you do, you usually say: "I do renderings"...

RENDERINGS??? thats the look I get sometimes... of course I live in Delaware... we raise chickens down these parts and rendering is something they do chicken fat or something like that... lol... I tell my kids I color all day...

I prefer illustrator, which to me implies being commissioned to illustrate something, regardless of media. If someone were to ask what I do, I would say I'm a Commercial Illustrator.

yes, it makes sense. but if you said that here, you'd get a lot of people really confused once they realize you don't actually draw with pencils and colours. I guess a mouse just doesn't make it.

My Dad always says.. "something with computer"

we just get asked for images here. ie 'can you do us 3 images of this:' and then we get some drawings or a bad render/model.
i like it, it's simple.
