ok strangely this isnt specifically related to RT. im manipulating some truely huge models at the moment. my gtx285 w/3gb is really struggling.. i get stuck often if i accidentaly unhide too much of the model etc. max goes into a bit of a loop trying to refresh the screen, and i have to crash it.

im guessing my only choice if i want a significant ram upgrade is the quadro 6000 anyone know about any secret graphics cards that dont show up on google searches that have lots of ram?

The 670gtx with 4 gb is out, but I'm not convinced it will be significantly faster than your 285. Dont know about the Quadro, but at 4500$ +, I'd rather buy 3 render nodes and get by with some creative scene management

yes i thought that was the case. going from 3 gb to 4 gb probs wont make a huge difference, and my 285 seems fine and fast if the model fits in the ram on the card, so i dont think its a gpu speed issue im having. ill just have to be more careful with my unhiding
