  • How to import vrscene in max ?

Last naiad is out. Lot's of errors inside this version. But, looking good so far.

How to import vrscene to 3dsmax ?

Can somebody compile windows alembic exporter (why on earth not to compile it by yourself, exoticmatter ?!) ?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Currently there is no way to get a .vrscene to render in 3ds Max; this only works for V-Ray for Maya and V-Ray Standalone.

Now. Exoticmatter implemented vrmesh export, BUT! It imports in max without smoothing groups applied!!!! Holy cow...

How to apply smoothing to proxies ?

There is no other way except to import as mesh, smooth it, and re-export it. Ideally they should have added vertex normals before the export...

        Best regards,

Can you help me to compile the alembic exporter? As i have no idea how to do that.
And recompile the vrmesh plugin also They gave sources of all plugins. Thx!

P.S. I heard, they stop any support, so, I think this will never happen (vrmesh fixes and alembic for windows).

If they give the sources, then we can fix it... do you have to be a customer to get them?

            Best regards,

So vlado, what you think of all this ? I tried to manually compile the plugin - but.... I'm too stupid for this.

Well, we don't have Naiad, so I can't really do anything without the sources...

                  Best regards,

So from what I was told, you need to apply a Mesh-Normal in Naiad, before exporting the .vrmesh file.

                      Best regards,

Yeah it works. Slower, than bgeo and also there's another issue with the vrmesh itself. It renders slower, than the one, done inside max.... Twice the time. Unworkable to me.

No alembic ? Or like a workaround - support for .bgeo format. That would solve everything

From what I understand, there was an issue with the .vrmesh files exported from Naiad (velocities being incorrect or something); Nicholas Yue told me it's been fixed, perhaps it would be good to contact him.

                            Best regards,
                            Vlado

Yes. But there's another issue with the size.... I don't think they will ever make something work

Guys. Is there anybody who can compile alembic for windows let me know!!!!
