WordPress Portfolio - I Dont get it

OK So I've watched a couple of video tutorials on the subject, but I still dont get it.

I watched various themed tutorials, and various general wordpress tutorials. In just about all of them, in your dahsboard on the left they have:
Posts
Slider
Portfolio
Media
Pages

I've downloaded and installed the latest Wordpress 3.4.2 and I dont have "Portfolio" on the left
What gives? I thought maybe its a plugin and searched for it (I get millions of results) so I dont think its this.

I'm missing something here.

Help please?

I tried a lot of plugins, but I forget which one I liked the best. I read the reviews, and pick ones that are highly recommended. WP isn't very intuitive, but ones you get used to it, it's not so bad. When I get back to the office, I'll de one searching, but it can't b or a opulent days.

I ended up using Nextgen Gallery for WP. I found it quite flexible and it worked like I thought a portfolio gallery should work.

This looks interesting. I played with it a bit. Do you know if it's possible to add a youtube or vimeo into the gallery/album and not just images?
