  • Windows 8 render server -- no drive mappings respected

I have a backburner server running Windows 8. It mostly works, BUT it’s not respecting the mapped drives. I don’t want to use UNC for various reasons, and I can’t understand why it will not send output to a mapped drive (or find XREFS that are on a mapped drive).

The mapped drive shows up in explorer without a problem, but when Backburner tries to use it, the mapping is not recognized at all.

Anyone know how to fix this?

(Here’s a tip for people setting up Windows 8 farms—I overcame a few errors when I put the Server compatibility settings to “run as an administrator"… still didn’t fix the mapped drive issue though.)

Are you using IPv6 or IPv4?

IPv4. IPv6 is too weird for me.

I am now using the server as a workstation too -- turns out Max will not see the mapped drives at all while you are using it in Windows 8. You cannot browse the mapped drives at all; they don't show up.

Other software (Adobe, for instance) recognizes the mapped drives normally (just like Windows 7).
