I save it open it …and I loose the smooth info and it gets all fasted….
If I collapse it to a mesh same thing
Not sure where to look for the answers on that…

The odd thing is that it looks perfect in max …until I save and re open it

Maybe you can add a smooth modifier, tick autosmooth and see if this helps.......................

The problem is known. Maya smooth edges, while Max does have smoothing groups by Polygones.
Nobody has yet written a translation programm. It wouldn't be to hard to do, but...

Well, there is no way to translate smoothing between Maya and Max yet.

Have you tried export a camera between the max to maya? I'm trying to do that now and everything works great but I can't seem to get the camera right. The camera always comes into maya turned to the left 90 degrees. Aside from that it's perfect.

Any idea's suggestions on how to fix that???????

Maya's coordinate system is Y-up by default. Max is Z-up. You can switch Maya over to Z-up, however Max can't be changed as far as I know. Check your prefs -- it's in there, but I haven't used Maya in almost two years so I can't remember where exactly.
