I just installed max 13 qnd have not upgraded to vray 2 for max 13 yet. This afternoon or tomorrow i'll do that.
But, while i wait for authorization to upgrade, i've been opening the sample scenes that ship with max 13 and rendering them. Some use scanline, some use mental ray. What it seems like, although i haven't looked carefully at the scenes, is that mental ray appears to render quite a bit slower than what i am used to when i use vray. i haven't played with any settings of the sample files. i just rendered them straight out of the box.
