  • DMC sampler patterns vs camera sensor noise/film grain?

OK, so my understanding of the DMC sampler is that it resolves to a clean image via a pre-determined pattern (hence deterministic?). Given that quite often we're pushing our renders to give us a perfectly clean image, only to degrade it to integrate with live action footage, would it be *theoretically* possible to specify a particular camera sensor noise profile/film grain profile to VRay to use as its DMC pattern? I'm guessing it wouldn't be so successful for secondary rays such as removing noise in reflective surfaces, but interested to know if anyone has considered this as an option.

    cheers

It's not quite the same thing; the noise produced by V-Ray does not match camera noise precisely (although they happen for remotely similar reasons).
